An Open Apology to Palestine by ~momeatschicken:iconmomeatschicken:

First of all, I want to mention that this apology probably wont change anything at all, but, like they say at Alcoholics Anonymous, "the first step to change is admitting that you have a problem."

I want to officially start off by saying sorry for supporting Israel's reign of terror over your homelands. It's obvious that, ever since the six-day war, American tanks have been rolling all over the Middle East with Israelis in them. THIS I am innocent of, but what I am not is of being from the West and not doing my part to stop this. Up until a few months ago, I was one of those kids who looked offened by all this fighting, but wasn't really sure which side was justified in its attacks. Now I know that this is the basic struggle between the people and the empire, and I always side with the people.

Next, I want to apologize for the CONSTANT refusal of the West to recognize the state of Palestine at the U.N. I HATE to distinguish myself by the nation I was born in, so, let's call me a "Geographic Canadian". Aside from the NUMEROUS American shooting-downs of progressive Middle East proposals, Canada has been involved in the following:

Date               Resolution Number                  No Voters

Dec. 14, 1979            34/133                         U.S., Israel, Canada
Assistance to Palestinian People

Nov. 3, 1980              35/13E                         U.S., Israel, Canada
Request Israel to return displaced persons

Dec. 10, 1981            36/120B                       U.S., Israel, Canada
Palestinian Rights

Dec. 16, 1981            36/146B                       U.S., Israel, Canada
Rights of displaced Palestinians to return to their homes

Dec. 11, 1984            39/49D                        U.S., Israel, Canada
Convening a Middle-East peace conference

See? Canada's not all it's cracked up to be folks! These are the no-votes from Canada that I know of, and had I displayed ALL Western no-votes for progressive Middle Eastern proposals, they would've totalled around 46 separate resolutions, with the common pattern of the U.S. and Israel being the only no-voters.

Third, I want to start my action towards aiding the Palestinians by demanding that everyone reading this NOT from Palestine or another Middle Eastern country bombed and abused by the West to write an apology to them. It is the LEAST you could do considering that all most Westerners do is sit around cafes and complain about their own lives.

Finally, I want to issue a warning to all you Palestinians, and Middle Easterners in general. As the Aborigional Peoples of the West and, more recently, Afganistan and Iraq have discovered: The white man NEVER comes in peace! Always be skeptical of the West and it's policies of using armed force to get it's own way. The propagandists and the soldiers (coming to a town near you soon!) are experts in their fields, and they don't care how many 10-year-old boys their bombs and tanks crush.

  ...Sorry...

I know a few people here on DA from Palestine and this is an open-ended apology to those that are living in the occupied areas. Hopefully (but not likely), this will the first of many apologies made by Westerners to Palestine and the Middle East in general.

In some kind of way it is. When the people rise up against injustice, it's possible to make a change. But we don't. Sometimes we don't know it, other times we don't want to make a change, because it will affect our lives. In this case it's both.

Yeah, it's also kind of discouraging when there are so few people that see the problem and actually want to do something. That's the problem with me, I write the letters, send the e-mails, but I can't seem to get motivated when no one else around me is.

You have to keep in mind that it's better that one person does something, than that noone does nothing. It will always start with one person and sometimes it will ends in a revolution. You mustn't give up. Keep in mind that worldwide are more people doing the same thing as you and having the same problems as you. But when you count all the people worldwide fighting for the same thing, you are with more than one person. :D The people united, will never be defeated
:iconmomeatschicken:
Hmmm... I guess you're right, there're probably more people around that care that are just waiting for someone to start something

well josh if you were here you no we all would help you and i suppose to lack of doing anything, apologizing , uprises all that fun stuff . the whole trying to get motivated or in this case not motivated at all is just as bad as aiding the wrong side.

I know, I want to start something, and I think that I just may...
